Coffee Beshasha Ethiopia GROUNDS

£9.50 (per 250g)

Roasting House – Beshasha, Ethiopia A beautiful Ethiopian coffee from Mustefa Abekano, a smallholder farmer in the Jimma Zone of western Ethiopia. Grown at 2,000–2,100 metres using traditional farming methods without agrochemicals, this coffee brings together a diverse mix of heirloom varieties, including 74110 and 74112. Tasting notes: peach, apricot, lemon tea and honey, with a soft, creamy finish. The coffee is Giling Basah processed, a traditional method that gives it a distinctive sweetness and body. To conserve water, Mustefa lightly ferments the washed coffee for eight hours rather than repeatedly washing it before drying, helping to create its gentle honey-like sweetness. Since 2018, Mustefa has processed his own coffee and coffee from other local smallholders at his Behasha wet mill, enabling producers to trade more directly with buyers and retain more of the value of their work. He has also established additional purchasing sites and a warehouse for natural-process coffees, helping more small producers connect with the wider market. More recently, he has been working with agronomist Harun on shade protection, careful cherry selection and monitoring moisture during drying — all helping to improve the quality and consistency of the coffee. Roasted locally by Roasting House. 250g.
